As the earth is readying for a winter slumber, so are we…
Spring, summer and fall are no doubt the busiest time for us, as it is for many, which makes the winter slow-down a much anticipated and welcomed time around here.
Every year brings a list of new as well as repeating Things to Do, some of the projects/tasks are small-ish, some big-ish and right now, that list is down to just ONE (and I am totally pinching myself!). It’s the The Great Hen Migrate, trekking from their summer coop to their winter coop, which will then be followed by a deep cleaning of the summer coop. This is set to happen mid to late November, before the temperatures drop drastically, causing drinking waterers to freeze and stay frozen and snow starts to accumulate.
Then we rest, for a bit….sort of. Being still does not come easy to me, this slow-down is also about having time get to things like; the list of books that has been building, time to more fully enjoy podcasts and a music library, recipes waiting to be tried, needle felting ambitions, building on our plans and goals for the coming year(s) at Timeless Acres, more time to spend with all the lovely creatures that make up our farm family and oh yeah, getting ready for winter breeding and spring babies. We rest, for a bit.
